Shop the shows you love
Leverage AI image search to pull up relevant products based on what you’re viewing.
Shop the Look
Or rather, make AI shop for you.
This is an idea I had when I once really loved a coat I saw a character wearing in a Netflix show. If I paused the show on the TV or tablet, I wanted a way to shop the character’s look - but not have to do the work! This is where AI comes in.
Logic to consider
Identify products within screen view
Identify context and history of the show and topic/synopsis of the episode (i.e. This episode is based on cooking a steamed pudding vs. a documentary of mountain climbing in extreme elements)
Of identified products, use only: Clothing, kitchen appliances, food, electronic devices, furniture, fixtures, toys, cars and exercise equipment.
If clothes: Display clothing prioritized based on users interests in this order: Most similar, frequently shopped brands, frequently shopped [gender’s] clothes.
If kitchen appliances: Display appliances based on users interests in this order: Most similar, frequently shopped brands, near-by, fastest delivery
If food: Recommend recipes based on what’s in-view and offer to ‘add to shopping list’
These are just examples of logic and personalized AI that could be leveraged using a screen capture from a show as a starting point.
Business opportunities
Less intrusive, effective marketing within content
Identify brands to partner with during show creation so that when users shop, those brands are prioritized
Allow users to shop the ‘look’ of favorite characters, so it’s not just based on one screenshot but could be based on identified products over the entire series
Process closed captions through AI so that it gains context for the show and history of what’s been discussed (i.e. Highly useful for educational or cooking shows). Tailor recommendations based on show type: A cooking show may recommend products to add to your shopping cart, and an educational show or documentary may recommend books that delve further into subject matter
